Internet Marketing

Build and and they will not come, at least not until you have started marketing your website properly. Internet Business Society has some tips that will help. Marketing is a rich process that includes both quick hits and slow benefits. A smart website owner knows Internet marketing is a continual effort. Below are some quick hit marketing actions you can take that will have you seeing results for a new website in weeks, not months.

Here are a few actions:

  1. Have a great website: It’s a lot easier to market a website that is worthy of being marketed. Would you visit your website? Make sure you have valuable content that is very attractive to visitors.
  2. Audit your website: Check your content for spelling errors, dead links and html rendering glitches. Every page on your website should display properly for your visitors in both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
  3. Optimize your website for search engines: Make sure your keywords exist throughout your website including your domain name, page titles, headlines, meta data and content. Be careful not to over-do it or you will take a big hit on your search engine rankings. Besides, your visitors may get tired of seeing the same word over and over throughout your website so use natural language and write for your visitors first not for the search engines.
  4. List your website in search engines and directories: Submit your sites to Google, DMOZ, Yahoo and MSN as a bare minimum. Avoid paying for listings. Most paid listings are a waste of money and there are plenty of free alternatives on the Internet.
  5. Build links: Do a search on Google for the top 500 websites with your keyword and ask them to link to your site. Don’t spam them with impersonal emails. Read their site and email them with a suggestion to link to your site because you think it will be useful to their visitors. Tell them which page you think is most relevant and where you link should go. Give them the html to consider for placement as well. Use good anchor text that will boost your search engine rankings. Your site needs to offer real value for a webmaster to be compelled to link to it.
  6. Submit articles: Write articles related to your website and submit them to other publishers that will post your article along with a link back to your website. There are several article directories on the Internet that you can submit to but it is better to have your article on a single top publisher’s website from a search engine ranking perspective. The value of links vary from site-to-site.
