Are all the good domains taken? Try using a domain hack to increase your options. A domain hack is a domain name that uses the domain label to help spell out a memorable word or phrase. Here are the steps to creating a good domain hack.

  1. Consider the vast number of top-level domains (TLDs) – see below
  2. Create a second-level domain hack. For example, “blog.us” (owned by Yahoo) which uses the “.us” TLD.
  3. You can even create a third-level domain. One very good example of a domain hack is del.icio.us (social bookmarking site) which uses “del.” and “.us” to form a third-level domain.
