The One Thing You Need To Make Money On Ebay
There are many, many auctions which take place on ebay at any one time. So for yours to stand out from all the rest, there is at least one thing you will need in your auction to make money on ebay: That is a ‘Unique Selling Proposition’, also known as a USP.
A USP is a simple thing which makes your auction listing unique, something that sets your auction apart from the other listings.
This is not a new idea. Most big companies use this principle to try and separate themselves from their competition and to make their marketing stand out from the rest.
You should really jump all over this if you are even semi serious about making money on ebay as most ebay sellers are kinda lazy. Most ebayers will use the same title they seen on another auction. They will also copy the description for the item from the website of the manufacturer or from the box the item came in. And most can not be bothered to take a photo of the item they’re listing. Instead, they will take one from the internet instead. If you don’t believe what I’m saying, have a look at the auctions for something like ‘Apple Ipod’. You will see more than a few listings with similarities to the rest.
Just by putting in a little effort into making your listing unique will reap rewards.
Many ebayers tend to think that by copying the exact description from the website of the manufacturer or the back of the box will make their auction look more professional. In fact, the opposite is true.
You should seriously think about having a USP in your auction listings, especially if you have a lot of competition with many other sellers listing the same item.
Always have a look at the other similar items. Have a look at the titles those guys are using and make sure your title is different to the rest. Maybe put the color of the item in the title. Maybe the model number or the age but makes sure your title is unique. And for the item description, take a few minutes to think about it and write your own, listing every benefit. To make it easier, start off with the standard description of your item and modify it. Make sure you leave all the important stuff in the listing.
Check out the auction titles for similar items and make sure you don’t simply copy someone else’s. Put on model and make numbers, for example, or the color. In terms of a description, ALWAYS write it yourself.
And for the images, take your own photo. If you don’t have a camera, try and borrow one or get someone to take the photo for you. Also, learn how to make the image smaller. There is nothing worse than waiting for an auction listing to appear on screen because the pictures are too big to load in a decent time.
But don’t let this put you off. Any picture whatever or where ever it is from is always better than no picture at all!
Just by using a USP will always help you make money on ebay.
